Exploring New Paths: Finding Balance and Fulfillment as a ParentBeing a parent can often feel like a daunting task. With so many demands on our time, energy, and resources, it can be difficult to find balance and fulfillment in this important role. But it is possible to lead a fulfilling and balanced life as a parent. It starts with exploring new paths and challenging ourselves to think differently. The key to finding balance and fulfillment as a parent is to remember that it is okay to take time for yourself. It is so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day demands of parenting, but it is essential to carve out time for yourself to do something that brings you joy.As a Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, Rachel has a strong background and years of experience in mental health. She is trained to support and guide people with common mental health problems (such as anxiety, depression, OCD and stress) to and through their recovery using CBT. But there were many patients she assessed within her work in the NHS who were struggling with NORMAL feelings of stress, low self-esteem, anxiety and feeling down, but who didn't quite fit into the diagnosis criteria and were therefore sent on their not-so-merry way without my support. Sure, the NHS is stretched beyond belief and not everyone can access the treatment they need, but she always wondered what became of those people who slipped through the net. Thank you, Ken and the Own Your Truth Podcast, for allowing me the opportunity to share more of my story with the world!Follow Ken and the Own Your Truth Podcast! Listen to the original episode hereWhen asked about his greatest motivation in his career, Christopher Wright reflected upon his life and dedicated that title to all individuals who have overcome adversity to create a better life for themselves. Being able to assist others to rise above their mental health struggles and discover successful coping skills is, by far, one of the most fulfilling aspects of what he does. Despite the difficulties he faced throughout his youth, Chris has carried the value of helping others into his career. Now, he is a renowned podcast host and celebrated keynote speaker, and mental health advocate.Chris’ passion for advocating for mental wellness spurred from his traumatic childhood. Early on, he was exposed to the antics of his father’s racially-driven biker gang. At one point, due to his parents being under the influence and unattentive, he fell out of a moving vehicle, breaking his neck. After this near-death experience, both of his parents eventually passed away from extreme drug use. Chris, unfortunately, witnessed his mother’s passing first-hand. Throughout the rest of his adolescence, he was the victim of various levels of abuse at home and while in foster care. While these horrifying events could have broken him, Chris persevered. He went on to graduate from college with a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Development from The University of Arizona Global Campus, and he is now a dedicated husband and father. Driven by a life’s purpose to give hope to those who may feel stuck or alone due to their circumstances, Chris gives back at every opportunity. Notably, he served on the board of an international nonprofit and now has a Mental Health and Wellness Professional (MHW) Diploma. In addition, he launched a fund through Warren Village to give money in support of single mothers seeking to improve their lives as well as those of their children. Over the course of his career, Chris has also become a well-respected member of the Business industry, where he serves as a business development and sales professional in the government sales sector. Moreover, he is an active member of the American Public Works Association (APWA), where he contributes to the nonprofit’s overall goal of “promoting professional excellence and public awareness through education, advocacy, and exchange of knowledge.”As the #podcast host of In the Wight Mind Podcast, Chris is known for speaking up about mental health and providing actionable tasks to help his listeners improve their life and move through trauma. Impressively, he has interviewed people like #nicolearbour and Frank King He has also appeared as a guest on numerous occasions for motivational public speaking and as a guest on podcasts such as Sommerville Connects. When he is away from the office, Chris enjoys spending his time volunteering at COMPEER, which is a buddy system for individuals experiencing mental health challenges. He can also often be found relaxing by spending time with his family or heading back to his hometown in Colorado to rest and reset. Even when he is not working, Chris is consistently researching the mental health field to stay updated on today’s best practices. After all, it is his mission to offer his keynote audiences or podcast listeners the most impactful advice and information regarding overcoming mental health challenges.Follow my socials:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/wrightsmind/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wrightsmindFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/wrightsmindTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@wrightsmindTwitch: https://www.twitch.tv/wrightsmindWebsite: https://www.wrightsmind.comEmail : chris@cwright.co#mentalhealth #mindset #selflove #trauma #depression #anxiety

Segment 1:According to Brené Brown, a researcher and expert on vulnerability, vulnerability is the willingness to show up and be seen, to be honest and transparent, to let ourselves be vulnerable. (Brown, Brené. "The Power of Vulnerability." TED, 2010. https://www.ted.com/talks/brene_brown_on_vulnerability)Research shows that vulnerability can lead to deeper connections with others, improved mental and physical health, and increased creativity and innovation. (Brown, Brené. "The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You're Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are." Hazelden Publishing, 2010)A study by Harvard Business Review found that leaders who are more vulnerable have higher levels of trust and credibility with their team. (HBR Staff. "Why Vulnerability Is Essential for Leadership." Harvard Business Review, 2016. https://hbr.org/2016/03/why-vulnerability-is-essential-for-leadership)Segment 2:Many people think that being vulnerable means being weak or exposing themselves to harm. But that's not the case. Vulnerability is about being open and honest, not about being weak.In fact, being vulnerable can actually make you stronger and more resilient. A study by the University of Arizona found that people who are more vulnerable have a stronger sense of self and are more capable of handling stress and adversity. (Martinez-Perez, B., et al. "The Benefits of Being Vulnerable." University of Arizona, 2017. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-moment-youth/201711/the-benefits-being-vulnerable)Segment 3:So, how can we be more vulnerable? Well, it starts with being honest with ourselves and others. It means being willing to share our thoughts and feelings, even if they're uncomfortable. It also means being open to feedback and criticism. But it's important to remember that vulnerability is a process, not a destination. It takes time and practice to become more vulnerable, but the benefits are well worth it.Conclusion:In conclusion, vulnerability can be difficult, but it's also incredibly powerful. By being vulnerable, we can deepen our connections with others, improve our mental and physical health, and increase our creativity and innovation. Remember, vulnerability is not a weakness, it's a strength. So, next time you're feeling vulnerable, embrace it, and see where it takes you.Additional Resources:Brené Brown's website: https://brenebrown.com/"The Gifts of Imperfection" by Brené Brown: https://www.amazon.com/Gifts-Imperfection-Let-Supposed-Embrace/dp/159285849XFollow my socials!LinkedInYouTubeInstagramFacebookTikTokTwitchWebsiteEmail
